I'll admit the skeleton storm is quite unusual, but it seems to me that no one here has any insightful answers as to why they've been animated and behave the way they do. But frankly I don't care much about sports, and I imagine it might be hard to corroborate sports teams when people seem to be from all sorts of different places.

Do YOU really care about someone else's sports preferences?

Call it a hunch, but I doubt your deepest desire really is world peace. Which is just as well; it's a very short-sighted answer. If someone truly did desire world peace, I'd have to wonder how much they actually believed in it, or if their idea of 'world peace' is even worth the effort.

It lacks an understanding for why people fight; or why other people kill. If world peace is predicated on everyone also being happy, then in order to be happy, people would have to be allowed to be individuals. Individuals will invariably clash when they come into contact with people they disagree with, or whose lifestyles do not make them happy. Thus, they will naturally come under conflict, and on a large enough scale this could lead to fighting, or even war.

Which is to say nothing about people that may be happy simply fighting others. But if they are not allowed to fight for the sake of peace, then they won't be happy.

Now, if world peace does not require the basis of everyone being happy in order to be achiever, then the best way to achieve that is to impose uniformity; if everyone is the same, then there is no reason for people to argue, fight, or kill each other. However, if everyone is the same, then invariably there will be people who are unhappy, because they will not be allowed to be themselves and do what makes them happy. Even if they are provided for in every other way.

That's a very basic summation of the paradox, of course, but you get the idea.

i get the idea that ur switchin around ur argument a little there dude. the ? wasnt wat i want thats realistic the ? was wat i want. if ppl had wants that were realistic we wldnt have all that fun human nature shit u mentioned in the 1st place. 

also i guess i was thinkin wat if no 1 WANTED 2 hurt ny1 else so i guess world peace would need a little bit of mind control 2 actually work. but thats not the point. the point is: r u sayin world peace isnt worth it b/c the bare basic idea is bad or r u sayin its not worth it b/c the only way u cld get it wldnt rlly b peace at all

I suppose you're right, and people could simply be too idealistic to mean any harm. But then that begs the question on whether or not they're in the wrong if their ignorance causes harm, or if they're a similar victim of unintended consequence.

Either idea is viable, but personally I believe the latter; that it wouldn't really be peace at all.

...Though to be fair, I have seen someone try to mind control a population to achieve world peace and unity. It would've been an extremely boring world if he'd succeeded.

I suppose if it's possible to create a world that was entirely peaceful without altering everyone's personality, it would be a wonderful paradise. But the theory of that is a bit too farfetched even for me!

But I for one agree. Even if it wasn't the law in most places, ignorance is hardly an excuse for doing wrong.
