Oh...wait...I think I get it. You don't have any friends so you think this is the best way to go about it. You missed out on friendship in the past and so you're making up for it now by skipping to the good stuff.

I still don't think that's the best way to go, but I understand wanting to make friends. It's a good effort.

It's a noble attempt, but no. I have what you may call an... interest, in people. That's all. It may come as a shock to you, but I am simply curious to the make up of the people here. It doesn't matter to me if people find my line of questioning abrasive.

But if you have an interest in people shouldn't you want to make friends with them? Isn't that what being interested in people means?

You can be abrasive and still make friends. It just usually makes it more challenging.

I observe them from afar, and organize things based on what I've observed. You could say that was my job, before I came here. It was certainly never about making friends.

It may not be my job here, but it's still a curiosity. A force of habit, if you will.

Well, rude or not, the next reply takes a bit longer to show up, as Joshua sort of has to... think about it. He's not even sure he believes what he says next anymore, but it's easy to fall prey to the human comforts of what's familiar.]

No. It's impossible for one person to truly understand another. While I still find it an interesting curiosity to pursue, it's not worth the trouble.
