I won't know too much about the plants here either, but if there share similar characteristics to ones I know we should be able to figure it out. But a good place to start is usually to see if the roots are edible,or if it grows any fruit.

Asking Astoria what we can work with might actually be the fastest way to figure it all out. We'd know what plants to start with then.
