So.

[ it is a public message, to the network, that pops up on the circle's watches and roy looks Less Than Pleased (tm) with the sudden state of affairs. the weather in the temple is absolutely out of control, there are apparently weird cakes appearing in the kitchens, and the fighting ring has turned into a magical court. great.

so, that may be the reason why roy's tone is particularly clipped, or even frustrated. but he seems methodical, in his words, and he is sitting at a table with a notebook, a glass of water, and a weird looking lizard on the table that has an odd rainbow-shift to the scales.

( ignore the lizard. it seems roy is. ) ]

The Circle is currently compromised of people of a variety of talents; soldiers, magicians, teenagers . . . all of us have particular skills to contribute to the cause of whatever it is we're meant to do here. I know quite a few people [ like maes, and barabas ] have been keeping track of various magical powers that we have been gifted, and organized some semblance of structure -- all of which is necessary. But we have to acknowledge what happened to Akvos.

[ he pauses, there. ]

Astoria has not been entirely clear with the Circle on what our purpose is. That may be an innocent error, or a purposeful move to win our trust. I'm not here to argue the merits of whether or not we should trust her, but we have no choice but to participate in whatever world she sends us to. Whether we like it or not, we are stuck there until she brings us back, and we have some opportunity to assist whoever is there. We cannot depend on her to figure out what to do in order to prevent another Akvos, or -- it seems, another El Minha, given King Kathashun is no longer in his own world.

[ roy taps the pen against the table once. ]

I don't have any solution as to what we did right, or wrong, or whether or not it was our fault in the first place. But I want to begin the conversation to work to prevent it again, and seeing as Astoria is either not willing or not capable of explaining herself at the moment, we need to learn to work without her. What are we missing? What do we need to work on? And what can we do in order to be more organized before our next world?

[ and, finally, roy feeds the lizard one (1) piece of lettuce, which it lazily seems to chew on. ]

I'm of a mind we need to organize fighters, healers, and transporters, but I'm open to ideas and suggestions -- and questions, about previous worlds to those who were not there to experience them. I have been to El Minha, Struxta, and Akvos. And I'm certain "older" members of the Circle will be happy to share their experiences, too.

It probably means we should train in more than the skills we know too. Speaking of that can you move water while you're in motion?

Yeah! And you've been doing that for ages. It'll help everyone else including those of us who didn't start out at the Academy, you know?

[ there's no baiting, as far as lance is concerned the deal has been sealed. ]

Oh! Uh. Kind of? It's not as strong if I can't get the stance right but yeah. Why?

[He'd been about to say something and opened his mouth to say it. He shuts it without uttering a sound. He blinks.]

....wait. You can only do it if you're in a stance? What stance?

Um. { why does he feel embarrassed. ] Yeah? Kind of? Or it helps, at least. I didn't really know what I was doing before Mako showed me some moves and stances and things and it's helped so much I don't usually try using my power without them?

Except for when we were in Akvos. But we were kind of....in water. So I didn't need to center myself.

[He visibly seems to be thinking pretty hard, one eyebrow raised as he glances off to one side.]

I'd like to see them sometime. I've had element users on my back before. It's good to know what movement I need to account for if you need to use your magic while I'm flying.

[It's also good to note some people can help others gain control of their magic through techniques they know. His thoughtful look is replaced with a bit of curiosity.] We also got a boost in Akvos. I was moving closer to the Black Lion's true speed while we were there.

[ lance feels a little??? flustered??? at how intense shiro is looking at him. did he do something? ]

Oh, yeah! I can show you. [ has he not??? who is he, where are they, what day is it. is it even something to show? ]

Wait, wait, hold on. You mean I can water bend while you're flying? [ he brightens, almost instantly. ] Shiro, that's so cool! We have to try it.

[ he waves his hand a little at the 'boost in akvos' thing. eh- not important. we're talking about flying and water bending. ] Have you done it before?

I carried a fog wielder on my back before.

[Yes, he'd been working on additions for the riding harness to account for anyone carrying ranged weapons or casting. He just needs to get familiar with using it.]

I think you could definitely water bend while I'm flying. The safety features of the riding harness should leave you free to bend or shoot without worry of falling. And I'll be watching for any trouble.

A fog wielder? [ lance.....actually brightens. he's never heard of that? ] Was there one here before?

And when did you get the riding harness up and going? I have to try it.

I’ve had it working since a week or so after I got here. Keith has been a big help in fine tuning it. [He glances back behind him and adds.]

It’s the cargo harness I’ve working on getting right now. So, any time you want to fly, let me know.

[As for the rest.] It was smoke or fog. You’d have to ask Waver. He had that power when we were bound to The Qri.

I'm ready to go when you are, Shiro. Seriously. It's been too long since I've been up in the air.

[ he tilts his head a bit to the side, curious. ] Waver? And Qri was the last place you were in, right? The last witch before Astoria?

That’s right. It was a vastly different situation. We were locating magic sources to supposedly help her maintain the stability of the universe. We could never prove it.

And alright, meet me outside in ten minutes. I’m finished up here.

You need a vacation.

[ general statement, really. but that's not the important part of this - because....well. lance doesn't bounce. but the excitement that crosses over his face? genuine. ]

Outside. Ten minutes. See you there!

[ and the video will cut. he has to get ready!!!!! ]

[His tone is wet but the smile hasn’t left his face. Lance gets to get up in the air and he’ll have some air time with a friend. Win win. When Lance arrives outside the temple, Shiro is stretching his lion body out and making sure the riding harness settled properly. He lowers himself with his right front leg shifted slightly to prove a small staircase.]

[ he's not even going to answer that because!!! more important things are happening!!!! which means that the second that he arrives outside and shiro is already there, in his full lion form, lance's grin only grows.

it takes a bit of stumbling, but he gets up there after another couple of moments, settling himself and pulling on the harness. ]

I designed it. Keith helped me test it. We had discussions with each flight and adjusted it over time.

[Ages ago they used to do the same thing with hoverbikes. He has many fond memories of peaceful afternoons spent together working out what could pull a little more performance out of a bike. He pulls himself out of his memories and focuses on now.]

The two belts go around your waist. The hooks are meant to lock into the rings. It lets me move freely during a flight. Even if we were upside down you would be hooked to me. The safety strap is for your leg.

I can catch you, but in an air battle, better I have help.
