I think you and I are going to get along just fine. I fought monsters as part of my job in my home world, and I appreciate good food.

A lot of the people I tell that too look at me like I have two heads! I knew my world couldn't be the only one overrun with monsters.

Yeah. It's kind of the same with Huntsman and Huntresses where I'm from. Right down to the job boards.

Roughly ten percent of the population is born with the ability to use magic. Not all of it is combative, and not everyone chooses to use a mage guild. Magic is common enough to be part of the economy and to have a special branch of the government devoted to it, in any case.

Magic isn't really common where I'm from. It apparently used to be a thing but not so much anymore. Everyone has a unique semblance of their own but they have to train to unlock them. So not everyone can do it.

What exactly can you do?

Magic manifests in childhood, usually during a moment of emotional distress. Sometimes, one develops their specialty through studying. Other times, a child shows talent with specific magic from the moment they manifest it.

As for your question...that depends on whether you mean right now, the power Astoria granted me, or my magic from home.

Astoria has granted me the ability to make blades of pink light. By default, they are small and look like flower petals, but I can control them and strike at many targets at once that way. Or I can form two swords with far more cutting power than the smaller blades. I sliced some large steel doors apart with the swords, for example.

[And all she'd managed to find was some water and sugary fruit drink for all of her efforts in searching, but at least it gave her something to do.]

Back home, my magic allowed me to cut through anything, I was superhumanly fast, I could sense magic, and I had a fire spell powerful enough to destroy armour designed to protect against fire magic.

[She's not thrilled with the downgrade, but recognizes that at least she was given something useful.]
