[ the weather is . . . insane, at the moment, given the sudden shift in every single quadrant of the temple making it spring, summer, winter, and fall simultaneously. roy has steadily been ignoring it, focused instead on collecting information, and preparing for the inevitable next world jump.

I hope this place picks one season, soon.

[ tiredly, as he shakes the snow out of his hair. someone has recently been through the snowy abyss that is the winter section of the temple. it looks like, from the background, that roy is in the kitchen area. the fire-brick oven is just behind him. ]

At any rate, we've recently lost a slew of members, and we need to regroup, and calculate who is missing, and who is still here. We had a successful trip, for the most part. [ ilde's meltdown excluded. ] Hopefully our good luck continues. I think we've all come to the agreement by now that this place can turn on a dime.

[ roy pauses, again, before his face settles into something a bit more somber. having been here since the very start, roy is used to this song and dance by now. it's only a matter of time before people are sent home, and he runs a hand through his hair, shaking out the last of the snow. ]

So. Who have we lost? And who is still here? And does anyone have any bets on what is coming next?

[ at the very least, roy is here to listen. ]

[He snorts. Amusement dances in his grey eyes.] No wants for it here. I just guessed. Our first world was low tech in a desert. The second was high tech. Lower tech again for Akvos.

If it’s a pattern then we’ll see. If it isn’t we can expect anything. [He glances in the direction of the tree. No time like the present. He walks that direction.] I’d have to ask her to be sure.

Maes managed to get some decent, and accurate, information out of her last time. It may be worth the effort.

[ with a slight shrug. ]

I'm finally satisfied that she seems to know about as much as we do, at any rate. She makes a somewhat honest effort when people bother her for information.

She does. If you ask her questions about how things work for her, she tries to explain. I have faith that she's doing what she believes is best based on what she knows.

We'll see how things shake out...but I want to explore this realm more and see what exactly is here with us. We might find more places to uncover more information...for all of us.

Mm.

[ a noise of agreement. ]

I wonder if the lake monster would take us to the mermaids from Akvos, to talk to them about their new home...

[ what a statement to say. ]

Or send an exploratory party into the forest, to see just how far it goes.

That last one. We need to do that one when we can. And the team involved need to keep focused on the forest.

...or it’s over but, that’s something I think most of us are aware of and can make sure it doesn’t happen.

And who knows what's even in there...

[ sigh, what a mess. ]

Nymphs and annoying little wyverns, for sure, but God knows what else... so whoever goes into the forest more than the cursory stroll should be prepared to fight, if needed.

[He nods quietly.]

I’m almost to the tree. Have you been by it yet? [He tilts his wrist and shows the shoreline. Beyond him out in the water is the tree.] I agree we have some projects to get to. I’ll go with any group that wants to talk to the mermaids. They should recognize the Black Lion. I was a Lion when I helped them out of the rift. It might have an impact.

I haven't, yet. I keep meaning to, but I always seem to run out of time.

[ which is ironic, considering the point of the tree... but: ]

It's a good idea. And I doubt they'll fear us, as much as they fear anything else. It's a hard thing, though, to lose your home. It takes time, to recover from that wound. Any sign of familiarity will likely be a welcome one, even if it's initially foreign.
