Video; dated before the start of the temple event

[ Welcome back, everyone! On the morning after the triumphant return from ~~being a robot is suffering world~~ Struxta, a message flashes. Staring at you from the screen is a young woman, a pensive look on her face. ]

Hello. I hope everyone has had a chance to rest. For those of you who do not know me, my name is Celes Chere, and I have a proposition for you all.

[ She settles into a more comfortable position, shoulders rolling back slightly as she sits up straight. ]

I noticed that there were a number of us, myself included, who were not as prepared to deal with what they found in Struxta. I can't help but wonder if this may be an oversight on our Astoria's part, or that she may not have been as exacting when choosing who she pulls into her circle.

But that doesn't matter. All of us are here now, and we all offer our own skills and talents. I propose that we share those skills and talents with others, no matter how seemingly mundane. Knowledge in exchange for knowledge. We don't know what sort of world we will be thrown into next, so we should prepare for anything.

I can offer sword lessons to any who wish to learn, as well as any other insights that come from my former post. All I ask is for you to return the favor—to me, and to your peers. Where do your talents lie? What knowledge are you willing to offer to help others?

[ Sir, have you considered that this might be too many blades? Not that she would ever think this, but someone might. Celes gives him a simple nod, a faint smile touching her lips. ]

I'm glad to hear. I'm not sure how many people here would be interested, but the help is appreciated. Maybe I can learn a few things from you as well, you seem fairly accomplished.

[Considering Zari actually was prepared for Struxta, she should probably offer up her services here.]

Hi, I'm Zari. I'm good with tech stuff. Hacking, electronics, repairs, all that jazz. If anyone needs help figuring that stuff out just point them my way.

[Or if there are robots who may need maintenance.]

[ Ah, she was hoping for someone more technologically savvy to reach out. ]

I believe there are a few of us who aren't familiar with advanced technology. Would you mind if I ask you a few questions?

[She wouldn't have responded if she was afraid of a few questions.]

I think you're right- whether or not Astoria is responsible, not everyone here is prepared nearly enough for what we might face.

[ she's not a huge talker in the first place, so she'll leave it at that. ]

I could go for some sword lessons, in exchange for shooting ones?

[ Neither is Celes unless absolutely necessary, so she appreciates the brevity. It makes her feel a little more at ease. ]

We were lucky this time, but we can't count on luck alone. Someone has to take the initiative.

[ Celes nods in agreement. ]

And I'm more than willing to teach—as long as you're willing to put in the work. I have never used a bow before, but you can expect the same from me.

I've been speaking with my colleagues about it- but you're right. Someone has to take initiative, or we might be completely blindsided by the next world.

[ riza doesn't like that idea. doesn't like the fact they're all sitting ducks, left up to astoria's whim. but they have to deal with it at some point. ]

I'm willing to work, don't worry. [ and then there's a pause, where riza kind of looks at her. ] And it won't be a bow. Pistols.

[ Celes blinks quietly a few times. Hmm, she was expecting something different—not that she minds, of course. ]

I'm not familiar. Is that a weapon from your world? I imagine it serves the same purpose, at least.

Ah- yeah. A weapon from my world that fires projectiles at speeds fast enough to rip through muscle and flesh. Like an arrow, but smaller and- when used correctly- more destructive.

[ riza needs to be checking herself with regards to what's normal back home and what's normal for literally everyone else. ]

[ Ah, so like the lasers on a magitek armor, or similar to Edgar's auto-crossbow. Celes nods again, her expression largely unchanged. ]

I could see how something like that would be useful in battle. How easy is it to move while using one?

There's no limitation to movement, depending on your comfort with the firearm, your balance, and your aim.

[ does she want to get into the lessons here? because riza will go full teacher mode. ]

They're hand-held, so it depends entirely on your ability to hit the target while moving or not moving. Novices usually need to stand still when they shoot, but before and after you have absolute freedom of movement.

If you need a second teacher for shooting lessons, count me in.

[Not that either of his guns made the journey with him, but that's not about to stop him.]

[ consider her curious. ]

What do you shoot?

Pistols, rifles, alien weaponry when the situation called for it; if it has a trigger, I can probably handle it.

That said, none of my guns made the trip here with me, for reasons I still don't understand.

[He sounds super happy about the whole situation.]

[ oh no. she knows that totally happy voice. ]

Did you get them from Struxta? Or do you mean when you got to the Temple?

[ also she is casually going to.....not focus too much on that alien weaponry bit. that's a whole conversation she's not really ready to have. ]

[ The more the merrier? ]

I can't see how it would hurt. Do you use a pistol as well?

Pistol and rifle, yeah. I don't actually have either of them on me, though.

[He is not at all happy about that.]

[ . . . hm. what an interesting way to gather information on people.

he may as well play along, and offer something in return. ]

I, too, am talented with the sword.

[ which is an understatement, but, you know. humblebrag. ]

I am also an excellent pilot, and have a wealth of basic survival experience.

[ due to, you know, his dad wanting his head on a stake. ]

But I also come from a far more technologically advanced species, than what you may be familiar with. Struxta wasn't very unfamiliar to me; I trust it's different, in your world?

[ Another fighter, that is promising. But no direct offer to help, just more questions. That's fine. She had expected this too. Not everyone is so trusting, even in a place like this. Well, if nothing else, she may have found herself a sparring partner, but that won't stop her from pressing further herself. ]

What do you pilot, exactly? An airship? Magitek armor?

[ She pauses. Right, not everyone might know that term. She should explain. ]

They are a powered armor controlled by a pilot, used for combat. They're common in the Empire.

[ She nods to his question. ]

That's correct. I doubt even the greatest minds could dream up such things in their lifetimes. It was... humbling, to say the least.

[ She felt useless, and she does not want to be made to feel that way again. ]

A ship, of sorts. I'm not so lucky to pilot any such 'armor.'

[ though, soon, he imagines, that will come to fruition. until then, voltron is out of reach. ]

But I wouldn't call it humbling, necessarily; all civilizations are different, and all have failings, including my own. For something so advanced, it's certainly limited in other regards.

[Ah, it's Miss Octopus Allergy. Ignis does so hope that she was able to find something to eat at the festival.]

I see there's many proficient with swords. I can offer daggers and polearms.

Along with cooking, sewing, and other ordinary, yet essential life skills.

Hello Celes, it is good to hear from you over the network. [you may still be an acquaintance for the most part, but...it is honestly a relief to see familiar faces following the success of Struxta and their return to the Temple.

I agree with your sentiments. Upon arriving here, I felt the Circle was a bit disorganized, and gathering people to help train others is a marvelous start to making the best out of an unpredictable situation.

I am trained in both combat and diplomacy, and I also know how to pilot a good many handful of different vehicles.

[Why are so many people Astoria brings here so young??]

A pleasure to meet you, Miss Chere. As far as combat goes, I'm afraid I won't be much help, but my training at home was mainly in herbals and medicine. I have some other small skills, but I don't know how useful they'll be here.

Ayyy, now that's what I'm talking about! You've got a pretty poignent point there, and hey, sharing is caring right?

Lucky for you you've got the numero uno gunslinger this side of Phobos right here. I know, I know, real lucky for sure. If we need more eyes around too, I'm your guy. Er, Im your guy to teach you how to be that guy. That guy that's good but isn't me.

I can teach self-defense and hand to hand combat. And survival skills.
