[Keith spent a long time debating whether to bother with video for this or just go with text. But the truth is, for what he's aiming for, it's better to do this virtual-face to virtual-face. Or something. He's even done bothering with the frankly ridiculous mask. For now.

The video opens to a fairly normal looking teenager (aside from the fact that what's visible of him is definitely dressed in a skin-tight vaguely glowy futuristic space suit), hesitating a moment like he's still debating on how to begin.]

So. Uh.

[Good start, Keith. Solid.]

I guess all of us are stuck in the same boat whether we want to be or not. And apparently that boat is headed for some other world before we know it.

I'll be honest. I don't know if we can trust this Astoria as far as we can throw her. [And he knows she can hear this, but he's said as much to her face, so there's that.] But for now I guess I plan on going along to see how things play out. [Which after discussing with Shiro, he feels pretty okay about, as plans go.]

But... just waltzing into other worlds, and potentially meddling in them... that could go bad really quickly if someone makes an enemy of the wrong person. If that happens, it might not be a terrible idea to know what we've got on our side.

Not just magic either. Because... that's really new to me at least. But we all bring some experience or skills or knowledge or something to the table, right? If we're gonna be any sort of team, we may as well know our strengths. And what we might be lacking.

[Maybe? Keith is now wondering if it was a bad idea to give him a way to talk to so many people at once. But he's committed now, no help for it. So he'll even go first.]

I'm Keith. Uh... I guess I'm pretty good with a sword. Pretty good in anything that flies. And I'm mostly used to being in space, lately. But it does't sound like that'll be helpful in this El Minha place. Also apparently I can fly now. So... there's that.

Anyone else feel like sharing?

Uh... yeah, actually, that's it exactly.

[The theatre of war. So the metaphor holds up honestly.]

I think it will be. We'll have to figure out what we can do individually, and as a group.

[And what issues there might be, even amongst themselves. Keith would like to believe they can get out of this without too much of a mess, but there are so many unknown factors.

For now though he nods.] Still, light's really useful, especially if we wind up places without a lot of technology.

I think observing and talking to people probably can't hurt anything, yeah. I think you're right about that. And maybe there are people who aren't being heard that need help.

[But are they in a position to help anyone right now, thrown together and pulled from their worlds and given a random piece of magic. He considers before nodding,]

It seems like a bad idea to really make any major plans or decisions until we see what we're walking into.

[A little nod of acknowledgment. Sam. Keith's already got this guy filed into the "probably can handle himself in a fight" category, if he's used to taking out supernatural monsters.]

...huh. So you're just like an off switch? Think you could show me how it works sometime?

[Keith will volunteer his own magic to be affected because he's way too curious about this.]

[Keith doesn't say the first thing that comes to mind which is "I've yet to go anywhere that doesn't" and instead shakes his head.]

I'm hoping we don't have any reason to fight, too.

[But okay. Hang on.] Necrobiology? What's that?

But it's still something you could stock in an ambulance, right?

Okay, then I think I really do get it.

... I have someone here from home, too. It honestly helps a lot.

It's a branch of applied necromancy. I work with paleontologists and other zoologists to study extinct species by animating their remains— my personal specialty is dragons!

Something like that, and sure, it should be easy enough to test with yours.

[ There are some powers that he's not so eager to have aimed at him for the sake of experimentation, and others that seem to have very specific situations where they can even work, but if Keith's is flying, then that's fairly harmless and simple to work with. ]

I could probably use the practice too.

[ He's still wary about these powers, but by all appearances this is nothing like what he's dealt with before. ]

You could mix the 'base' ingredients and keep that on hand, so you'd just have to add blood from the vampire that turned them.

[ Like he said, pretty disgusting, but necessary. ]

We don't have to do it often. You don't get vampirism just from being bitten by one, you have to ingest their blood.

Ohh.

[She knows one has-to-drink-blood-to-live vampire, one from a different world than hers, but she's never asked him how turning works for them. It seemed rude. Now she has extra double reason to never ask.]

Ew.

Great, then let's have some practice and a demonstration. You can try to knock me out of the air.

[Keith will play guinea pig, and it should be obvious when his power is nullified, considering he'll drop like a rock. So long as he keeps himself fairly close to the ground, it should be fine.]

Sounds like fun.

necromancy... you can animate dead things?

[Hang on.]

And there are dragons. Yeah... we definitely come from different worlds.

[Says the guy in the alien war with the giant lion shaped mechas. He has no business talking like something is weird honestly.]

I was more worried about you pushing it too far than crashing. [It's more amusing than he wants to admit to get Keith to pout. He would tease him so more but, he's distracted by the idea of more flying.]

Whenever you want to try again I'll go with you. Like I said I need to get used to the upgrades and I'll keep an eye on you.

Still looking around for straps to fit my other shape. It was easier when it wasn't the size of a truck.

Let's just say one has to earn my trust. I don't give it freely unless my instincts tell me its a good idea.

Skeletons, specifically. There's a lot less dragons than there used to be though, thus the necromancy...

I think I'm the only one here from my world, actually.

[which sure is going to be a lonely thought later]

[Yes. Yes he does. There is a whole list of people who can provide multiple concrete examples. Some on film. But he's quick to jump at that offer.] Yeah? Great. Then soon. Before we wind up in that El Minha place anyway.

[More practice before he winds up needing it.]

Straps, huh? There's one guy who can just... create inanimate objects out of nothing. Maybe he could help you out.

Yeah.

It's worse for werewolves. As far as I know, there's no cure for that.

[ Despite every effort they've made to find one. That's still a bit of a sore spot for Sam. ]

Are your werewolves the "lock him up in the basement every month" kind, too?

Yeah. It really does. I feel kind of terrible being grateful someone else I care about has gotten stuck in this mess too, but it really is good to have him here.

[Keith wouldn't wish this on anyone, really. But they're here, regardless.]

I've never heard of anything like it. But... that doesn't work here, right?

[Because of the whole double standard of Astoria's magic gifts working here, but nothing else. The one that's keeping his blade stuck in its sword form.]

99% of it doesn't, but I still have one of my familiars.

Maybe. I was going to look around and see what could be modified for it, for now.

[He could reference so many times Keith pushed himself. But a good number of those times had saved him or Black. Besides, a leader has to push themselves. They can't lead if they don't have a handle on things. He lets it go.]

After this call and everyone responds soon enough?

Think of it this way-- in terms of messes, at least it's not immediately "kidnapped and thrown into some weird place to get attacked by monsters" or anything like that.

[ She speaks from experience. ]

That's a good head on you. [He's not being sarcastic, he actually looks genuine in the remark.] Knowing how much meddling can backfire, I like it. [He feels like Astoria is missing that quality, and sure, maybe he's a bit of a hypocrite, but he's never taken this many people at once and given them magic powers.

I'm not a fighter, but I do this sort of thing a lot. Go to other planets, make them better. I'm basically an expert.
