.voice. calling out
Hello?
It looks like tech, but it's apparently magic. That's a new one, even for me. Although the past few days have been nothing BUT "new ones" so I suppose I should just get used to that. Not the point here, let me get to it.
My name's Carmen. I came in with the festival I guess. I'm currently hanging out at the Fighting Ring and was curious if there was anyone who also wanted to blow off some steam or at least work off some of that food.
If not, I guess I'll be giving these dummies a beat down.
[There's a pause and then quickly adds.]
Oh. Or I guess I could finally try to figure out this ability I was supposedly given. After everything else I've seen and heard that one might be the least strange. Unfortunately, I can't test my ability without some help. If you're interested let me know. It could be interesting for the both of us.
See you around.
[Carmen will reply to repsonses here OR you can just go find her at the fighting ring]

Well, if you're looking for a guinea pig, I can certainly offer. Not sure if you're much of a musician, though, so you might not be able to test out the intricate details?
no subject
[She considers the offer.]
Still, it might not be a bad one to try out so I can better tell how exactly my power works.
no subject
Where are you? I can come to you.
no subject
And thanks, both for not pardoning my ability to sing and for helping me out.
-> action?
And don't worry. If I started looking down on people for not being as a good a singer as I am, I'd be looking down on pretty much everybody else, you know? [She says, cheerfully.]
action
She continues replying to other conversations until she notices movement and looks up. Carmen gets to her feet, brushing off her clothes.]
Hi. Sheryl, right?
[A bright red coat and hat are strewn on the bench she had been sitting on, leaving Carmen only in her black, short-sleeved catsuit. For better or worse she'd wound up here in her signature outfit. Which, while comfortable and very practical, did leave something to be desired when it came to other outfits to wear.
She hadn't been very impressed with the other outfits available around here either.]

And Sheryl does, in fact, note the coat and hat near the younger girl. Hard not to. The color really pops. She doesn't say anything, though, instead flashing Carmen her most practiced pop-star smile.] Yes, that's correct. You must be Carmen.
Get any takers other than me so far?

[Between camouflage, shape-shifting, and a bit of sparring she'd had a busy day. She was getting a better feel for what her power could and couldn't do. She'd at least confirmed that it required touch and after she'd gotten a second power the other one had disappeared from her hold.]
I guess people around here are just happy to help.
no subject
[The horror and terrible missions, she can do without.]
Who's helped? We're a pretty small bunch, so I probably know them.
no subject
[She knows it sounds silly, but Carmen had enjoyed the opportunity to try her ability with a little more than a handshake of some kind.]
Thanks to them, I've learned I can only copy one power at a time.

[At least she's hoping that's the case. Sheryl didn't strike her as the type that would necessarily want to play tag.]

[She holds out her arm, pulling back her sleeve to expose her forearm.] All you have to do is touch me? Go ahead.

So, does it have to be singing to get it to work. I doubt we know any of the same songs, but maybe we could figure out a dance routine.
[Carmen had a little more faith in her ability to dance than to sing, but she wasn't 100% certain the 'rules' of this new ability she'd just copied.]
*((ooc: If you want the hand print to fade it can or it can stay visible, it's up to you. I just like the play on 'catching someone red handed.'))
no subject
She'll have words with the girl later if it does, but for the moment, she just lets her sleeve fall back down.] There are two parts to it.
The first-- you can repeat any musical instrument and sound you've heard before. A song you know, or make your own. [And to emphasize it, she waves her hand and there's the sound of a piano arpeggio out of nowhere.]
The second-- as long as you're singing, you can change the clothes you're wearing to whatever you want.
[To demonstrate that, she begins singing a song, albeit no musical accompaniment-- and her voice is clearly that of a professional singer-- and in a shower of sparks, her outfit changes to a rather elegant-looking dark blue gown.]
It needs to be the same type of garment-- you can't make your skirt into a hat-- but it's pretty nice, especially in a place where there's no mall or fashion designers.
no subject
Oh, so there's two parts to it. Interesting...
[And then the demonstration begins and Carmen can't help but be a little mesmerized. Sheryl was not exaggerating about the performance. When she finished Carmen gave her a short applause because honestly what ELSE were you supposed to do.]
I don't know how I'm supposed to follow that, but I'll try my best.
[She thinks for a moment and then taps her foot to give herself a count. Immediately the tapping of a drum seems to join her. It gives her pause, but also a boost of confidence. She takes a breath and sings a few bars. When she gets a few lines in she notices the magic taking effect and her black jumpsuit begins to shimmer and shift around her. It's a strange feeling, but all too soon it's replaced by a cute shirt and blouse. Carmen doesn't prolong the performance. She's not terrible, but it's obvious she only sings for fun and doesn't have formal training at all. She gives herself a once over.]
Hey, not bad, right?
no subject
Sheryl's a little intrigued just to have the opportunity to observe what her power looks like from a third-person perspective, and it's just as appropriately flashy as she'd have hoped.
Once Carmen's done, she gives the younger girl a polite round of applause.] Not bad, not bad! Don't worry about trying to follow me-- I'm a professional, darling, nobody here's as good as I am. But you've got a pretty natural voice.
And a killer sense of style, too. I dig the ensemble~ [She pauses.] Ah, you're going to want to turn it back before you lose my power, though. The change is permanent unless you turn it into something else.
[Which isn't a problem for her, but...]
no subject
Thank you. Your power is a unique one and could definitely come in handy in the right scenario. I've always enjoyed dressing for the occasion and with this you'd never be out of style.
[She considers her outfit again.]
True. So far I haven't quite figured out how long I can hold on to a power for, just that I can only have one at a time. This might not be the best power to push the limit on time with though.
