[after the Syndicate and the King have sent their messages, the Circle's watches light up with a third unceremonious communication -- but hey, at least it's someone from their number this time. Vern's scowling, but his tone's even enough.]

Hey.

Astoria wants us to change things here, right? I submit that the best way to do that is to take advantage of what we are. I know a lot of us have been getting to know people and getting more involved with the city, but when it comes down to it, we're neutral outsiders. Sometimes you need those, in a place like this: people with clear eyes and no strong prior investment except maybe a general wish to not see the people of this city offing themselves.

I've got a proposal. I don't know all your powers and backgrounds, but I know we've got a pretty good range of skills and capabilities here. I think we'd do well to split ourselves up. Some of us can concentrate on mediating -- break up fights in the street, take care of those who get caught up, try to damp down things before they can blow up into fights in the first place.

And some of us go figure out what in the hells the truth is behind this. I think a lot of us figure this poor child's death was preplanned in some way -- I certainly overheard talk that pointed to that myself -- but we're not sure exactly what the angle is here. Are the Syndicate just trying to kill the King? Take control of the seat of power? Some of us have figured out that there's no obvious natural water sources that would support this city, and the King's got some sort of blessing -- if the King controls the water, is that the power that's being fought over, rather than the actual throne?

Let's find out, and then let's figure out a way to use that to calm everyone down. If that takes locking the Crown and the Syndicate leaders in a room until they kiss and make up, or some kind of public broadcast, let's make it happen.

If you're up for this, we can form groups and take objectives. I'm not a great organizer, but even I can figure out where you're most likely to be useful if you need help.

And if you'd rather do your own thing -- well, go ahead. I'm not your leader or your mother.

Ah, and the King's just told me not to trust the Guard, and to find someone named Jalin, and now he seems to be occupied and won't tell me any more. So that's an extra complication. Anyone recognize that name?

Funny that the king would say the only person in the city we can trust is, you know. The leader of the Syndicate.

We sure the king actually said that? Doesn't really make sense, seein' as how the Syndicate's, y'know, leading the charge against him.

If the current king trusts someone linked with an organization known for rising against the crown, then I think it's way more complicated than that.

But Kathashun trusting Jalin makes things easier on us, because I think they should have a liiiiittle chat.

I think - you've got a good point. Kathashun trusting someone and personally requesting him should sort of speak for itself, regardless of who is part of what end of this.

[Speaking for himself on if he asked for anyone not in his royal guard.....ahahaha. It speaks volumes, honestly, louder than Noct wants to admit.]

I kind of got the idea there was some tension between the two from my talks with them but... yikes at the conflict of interests.

[ daylight sounds exhausted by the time he replies to akira, despite his attempts to still sound like himself. ]

I guess... I guess it wouldn't hurt to find him. Who better than to address then the head of the organisation himself?

Presumably. He's the one who speaks with the orphans in the marketplace.

I think we should do what Kathashun says and find him. You're right; if he really is the head of the organization, he might be able to tell everyone to calm down for like, at least five seconds.

I know he hangs out at the Fight Ring a lot. I saw him there whenever I was participating in matches and stuff.

It's how we met. [ here, dayligt's voice falters a little bit. ] He seemed really... nice.

[ he did not strike daylight as the type of individual who would lead a group like the syndicate. a group supposedly behind the assassination of the tyrant king and a group that's declaring an all-out war in a city taut with tension and turmoil. ]

His was the name they gave me when I specifically asked for the leader, though. Or at least the person responsible for speaking for the Syndicate.

...so having a chat with Jalin would be a good idea. [Oh he will sit with him and not let him be cryptic as hell this time. Not with a murder and war. His voice gains a hard edge.]

If he is their leader then this got a lot more complicated. He tends to avoid saying things directly. Don’t let him dodge you.

If the King trusts this guy, why doesn't he talk to him? Something about this is weird.

Maybe they're not on the bad terms we thought they were then. Or, at least, the leaders of both sides aren't on bad terms.

Akira mentioned that we get Jalin and the king together to talk— I think if we can manage that, the pieces will start to fit together a little more.

We need to get anyone seeking shelter to safety somehow. That should be a major priority regardless of what group you're part of.

I'd suggest from here on we're on high alert. Be sure to take a partner with you as often as you can.

I'll help out in trying to keep the peace between the factions. I hope maybe they'll be willing to hear me out when I'm, like, super big.

Is there anywhere in particular that we should take the civilians to? They might not feel comfortable going back to their places if, you know, it's in territory they don't wanna be in.

We need to find and secure a place to take them to. For now possibly around the sapphire. But we need a shelter of some sort.

Or we'll paint too big of a target on them by own activities.

I'm gonna help with keeping the groups from getting into fights but- Is there anywhere or anyone you want to start with first?

I would be of more use if I would continue having conversation with the citizen and members of each group. When the going is getting rough I could join the fighters but without the weapons I'm used to I would bring myself into unnecessary danger.

He felt the need to point out, that despite him being of a small statue he wouldn't try to avoid at any price.

Don't worry about having to fight. The others and I have that covered. [ he hopes he does. what's the point of being bigger than others if he can't keep the peace? ] Focus on finding out what happened to Eliana, okay? She deserves to have the truth be known, whatever it is.
