Hey guys! I know we’re all busy right now with all the wild stuff you guys have managed to find out but wanted to get your opinion on something.
It’ll be real quick, I swear.
If I attempted to convince a citizen here to let me try out the Mass Subconscious thing out - Where does that land on the ‘good idea’ scale that ranges from one to ten?

( ooc; this post is connected to this little event of daylight's! if you have any concerns/questions/comments, please feel to leave them over at the top-level. o / )

[so]
[yeah]

[ he does feel a sting while he reads that that but daylight tries to power on, as always. ] I've gotta do something and this is something I can do.
We're so close to figuring something out here! We need one more big push to find it and it doesn't feel right to leave this untouched, you know? This could be it or maybe it's not, but it's gotta be worth the risk to try.
no subject
What do you think you'll find when you connect? And what are your safety nets?
no subject
[ as for safety nets... ] I have firewalls and security programs precoded in me. Stuff like watching out for viruses and system decay and system shocks. Things like that. They're pretty sturdy since Emergency Aid updated them a few months back.
[ ... did meddy cover this with akira yet? probably not. they'll want someone to help solder broken lines and armour cracks for now since that's what daylight is more at risk for. ]
no subject
If you're going to do this, be careful. Okay? I can have Meddy guide me through repairs if needed, but I'm no expert.
[ah yes, that's how Akira works. he might be concerned, he might not think it's a great idea, but if Daylight is determined? he won't dissuade him, or argue against him. he does, after all, believe everyone should follow their own paths]
[for the most part]

tfw when all your hacker/data management characters are not in the game.daylight is
reallyrelieved to get akira's blessing for this. he is. ]I’ll try to be for your and Meddy's sake! I’m already talking to some kinda friends I made with when spending time at the races. I think one or two of them will agree to this long as I can convince them that I've got this under control.
Is there anything I can do to help you guys out before I start sniffing around at this angle some more? I might be busy with the data since there’ll be a lot of folks to go through if this is pulled off.
[ a pause. ]
And thanks, Akira. It means a lot you're willing to let me give this a shot. [ by this point, he's usually in a row or three with nightbreak and/or emergency aid. he knows they're only looking out for him since he's, arguably, the baby amongst the fireteam but- ]
no subject
[Akira's still exploring the city, after all. there's not much Daylight can do for him there]
[the next bit has him blinking at his watch in surprise, but he sends a reply a few moments later]
You're welcome? You don't really need my blessing to do things, though.
[Daylight is a free robot!!]
no subject
If something happens, I'll try to make sure it only affects me. You guys shouldn't get in trouble for something you're not involved in.
[ it's
mostlypartly why he's asking/telling them this stuff on the network: so they had a heads up on what daylight was planning to do. he didn't want this to catch them off guard should something go down. though he's only known them for a few months, daylight has come to like a lot of the circle members and the idea of them getting hurt because of his actions was-hmmm. okay- that's way too emotional. time for a very bad joke: ] Besides! I don't think there's enough space for us if we're sent to robot jail. :P
no subject
[DAYLIGHT IS THE ONE IN DANGER OF SHORT-CIRCUITING. . .]
[-- that second part makes Akira laugh, though]
There IS no robot jail. Haven't you heard? It's nothing but anarchy, here.
[that isn't true, necessarily. but it is true there's no law enforcement]
no subject
I'll do my best to be safe. You guys do the same too, okay? It looks like we're starting to uncover some really suspicious stuff.
[ -and really?? no jail? no brig?
oh man, lune would have a wild time here if he was around. (and possibly get everyone sent into a newly constructed jail for naughty circle members. arson would be involved somehow.) ]
no subject
I don't want to call it suspicious. Not yet.
[let him. . . hold out judgment on that part. but he has to admit, it's all pretty interesting and suspect]
no subject
yeah... may lune and akira never meet — lune was a planet-class thief before they joined the lornful light and a thing for sticking it to the corrupt establishment.) ]
When do we call suspicious stuff suspicious? [ he mulls over it a bit. ] Or do we never call it suspicious so we don't let those who know its suspicious know that we know that its suspicious?
[ ... yeah. spent more time with dialup than he should have. ]
no subject
I think we start calling suspicious stuff suspicious when we're absolutely sure it's something to be suspicious of.
[what]
Anyway, what I mean is, I'm wary, too. But if there is a civilization of lost androids living underground as Connor-san supposed, it's probably best to understand why they're down there first.
no subject
[ what's more terrifying?
the fact that akira pulled that off or the fact that daylight actually understood that? both? a mystery that will stump people till the ends of times, for sure. ]
Based on experience back when I was with my friends? The only reasons why anyone would separate from others and go to pretty crazy lengths to stay out of sight is:
A) You have to hide or
B) There's something to hide from. [ and neither was a comforting answer for day. ]
no subject
Both are comforting options, aren't they?
[it's hard to convey dry humor through text but damn if he isn't trying]
no subject
basically- yeah. he's been around long enough to tell when someone is being dry with him. and the 'nice' sort of dry too. not the 'mean' sort of dry he heard his great grandpere was known to be. ]
It could be worse, I guess? There could be a real chance we'll be involved in something dangerous.
[ his sarcasm is still work-in-progress. please go easy on him. ]
no subject
After El Minha, I'll be a little surprised if we aren't.
no subject
the player's foresightdaylight's hindsight is 50/50 sometimes, you know? ]Whatever happens- Long as we're working together, we can do this! I'm sure of it!
:D [ the smiley is for emphasis. very important emphasis. ]
no subject
Ooooh, when you put it like that you make it sound like we need a party catchphrase.
no subject
!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!! ]
A pun. I insist that we make it a pun. Somehow. Someway.
And it has to be a cheesy pun at that.
no subject
Astoria's Circle: Where Every Experience is Spellar.
[okay he]
[he tried]
no subject
I give that pun a 7/10! More of an inside joke but there's enough pizazz in it to make people groan if they're party poopers!
And, for what its' worth, Meddy thinks it's a good joke too. [ he can tell! they give a thumbs up when he showed them the message as they zipped by. fin wiggle.
the equivalent of a thumbs up with their fin wiggle. same thing. ]
no subject
A compliment from Meddy is the highest compliment a guy could receive.
no subject
Most of the time, they'll give you a disappointed noise. Maybe a head bump if the pun is bad.
[ which is all the time, in daylight's experience. both the noise and the head bump. ] I think Meddy is playing favourites, if I have to be honest!!
