Hey guys! I know we’re all busy right now with all the wild stuff you guys have managed to find out but wanted to get your opinion on something.
It’ll be real quick, I swear.
If I attempted to convince a citizen here to let me try out the Mass Subconscious thing out - Where does that land on the ‘good idea’ scale that ranges from one to ten?

( ooc; this post is connected to this little event of daylight's! if you have any concerns/questions/comments, please feel to leave them over at the top-level. o / )

I get why you want to try it; there could be something to find out there. But it sounds really risky. Connecting to something like that means it's connected to you too, right? It could go bad quick.
[...here's Keith arguing against the reckless course of action. But hell. He's a couple years older than the last time he and Daylight spoke. Maturity, or something.]

not the right direction, arguably, but a direction all the same. ]
We've gotta take risks while we're here. We all know something is up with the world now and we've still gotta dig deeper to find more info. What's a faster way to do that than go directly in the heart of the matter?
Besides- I think I'll be fine. I've connected with other Galateions before to exchange data or stuff with them. There were some hiccups, yeah, but it was smooth enough? Maybe luck will be on our side and it'll be the same situation here.

[...this would be a weird conversation for Keith to be having less than a week ago.]
Has anyone else tried interfacing with the system here? There's more than one mechanical member of the Circle, right? You need to know what you're getting into.
We can't count on luck.
I don't want to see you get hurt.

I promise I'll be careful when trying to do this. I swear. I won't, like, just stick my cable into anybody's port if it's available. I'm asking around and trying to find someone who I think my systems will be compatible with. There's a possible candidate or two? Hopefully.
Besides- Connor is doing better now! Thanks to you and Zari, especially. :)

He is indeed. That is no excuse for harm though.
I am sure there are boundaries where my healing must stop, though I own I have not found them yet.
[Bigger wounds take longer but she's always been able to heal to some degree. Her expression softens, even if it can't be seen.]
Should you have trouble, you need only ask. Take care.

That sounds like a real good place to search for juicy secrets and info we still haven't found yet for our mission. And I'm familiar enough with the concept of exchanging data and sharing systems back in my world so hopefully that gives me an edge when I connect with them. [ hopefully. maybe. definitely a 'cross your fingers' type of scenario. ]

Someone's gotta try if we haven't turned this particular rock yet. It seems like a super important thing to them here with how its part of their lives. It feels like a waste to not try to attempt anything with it.
There's a phrase back home for this sort of situation, I think. Something about fortune favouring the bold? I'm hoping it's going to work here.
no subject
the library is inert and from what i can tell it just about fried connor when he connected to it
and you want to try the same thing with something alive??? how is that NOT the same thing but worse?
fortune only favors the bold when the bold arent repeating other peoples mistakes

I'll try to be careful and on my guard. I think I'm thiiiis close to convincing someone or two I'm kinda friends with to let me try and connect with them.
[ there's a little pause on daylight's end. then he sends another message: ]
If you can't fix me should anything happen, can you at least promise to fix the other 'bot doing this with me? Someone's gotta get out of this in one piece. :P
[ this is a terrible thing to joke about, day. what on earth- ]

I can try, as long as you don't fry yourselves too much. There are some parts that don't come cheap.

and... oh. ohhhhh. good point there. he'll be sharing his memories and thoughts with them in return and that's enough to make him pause for a bit. but only for a bit because daylight is worryingly stubborn about things like these and this is why he should not be allowed to not be without meddy at all times. ]
I'll try to keep that from happening?
[ hmmm. the question mark makes it look like he's not sure of it. let's try again- ] I'll try to keep that from happening. I will! It's an avenue we've gotta investigate and I've got some experience with this sort of thing, so it makes sense to go after this angle.
[ kind of. maybe. if you squint real hard and tilt your head to the side. ]

[Locked/Private]
She doesn't really understand this number scale thing, but after their conversation at the festival, Daylight at least knows that this is something very close to her heart:]
There was a [...] friend of mine who, after struggling back from the brink of death, spent twelve years of his life driven to a single purpose by the unquiet ghosts of seventy-thousand lost souls.
[Souls that would have wanted the best for him, but also cried out for justice. Souls only in the abstract, for someone who knew them well.
And then he had died.
What would this be like for Daylight, with living personalities and information and history all jumbled together at once?]
I will be the first to admit that I don't understand the people here, or how they communicate with each other. But being so close to them, linked to everything about them, without proper preparations or precautions... That seems more than reckless, Daylight.

miss jing.
daylight feels his em field immediately push out a wave of comfort-condolences-care in his attempt to console miss jing, despite her not being there to receive it or even pick it up. he's not surprised by that reaction of his. galateions only do that for close family members or friends and honestly? he's starting to see miss jing as one of those things in the time they've known the other.
he certainly cares enough for her to have his tanks churn at the thought of how much it must mean to her to share a thing like this. daylight wants to apologise, wants to say he won't do it but- but that would be a lie and he won't ever lie to anyone he cares for. not if he can help it. they deserve the truth since he cares for them a lot and miss jing is someone he cares for a lot. ]
I'll try to be careful. I will. Last thing I want to do is hurt you or the others or get you all in trouble. I can't say I won't do it because that'll be a lie but I'll do my best to take precautions. [ it's the most he can promise her right now.
