Anyone feeling a little...strange recently? Perhaps a bit normal?

[He's weedling for answers and not being subtle about it, no apologies ever. Not when he can feel his Light racing through his veins in sharp pulses. The start and stop nature of it, and what Astoria had said previously about the temple itself, is equal parts comforting and horrifying. One moment he feels alive and the next nothing, back to nothing more than a dulled machine.]

I know our lovely lady in the sky supposedly gave us all magic, I don't know I've only seen it, but I mean. Anyone feeling a little bit more like themselves then they have in a while?

Weird is one way to put it, and it's become pretty much the only way in Firo's book. He sighs, impatient with this whole situation and with himself for not figuring out how to fight his way out of it.]

[Yes, that's very, very helpful and so very informative. He's not a Warlock though, not prone to religious musings, and he certainly isn't a Titan with their straightforward ways.]

It's...I dunno, think of it like the magic here? Only different. Real different. The Light, it's what makes us who we are back home. Gives us life, a purpose. And some pretty funky powers to boot.

It keeps you alive and she still turned it off when you got here?

[Clearly he's fine if he's made it this far, but little things like "reality" and "sense" don't often check Firo's outrage.]

[This isn't the first time he's had to explain this, but it certainly doesn't get any less confusing with each repetition.]

Long story short, I was dead for a while, the Light found me and made me not dead, and now it keeps me from ever being permanently dead. Well, it did back home. Forgive me if I'm not going to test it out here right yet.

Yeah, I can get why you wouldn't want to.

[He's smiling a little, and the amusement might be audible in his voice; he hasn't been racing to test out his immortality for similar reasons.]

You said it gave you powers too, right? Sounds like a pretty sweet deal all around.

I know, right? It's kind of a major bummer, if I do say so myself. And I do.

[There's amusement, but it hides a touch of anxiety beneath it. Being Lightless just feels...wrong.]

I mean, immortality, badass powers, it does sound like a pretty sweet deal doesn't it? Now, some people don't like being stuck in the whole 'hero' roll for the rest of their lives, and I can get that, and sometimes you gotta wonder who you were before all of it, but there's really nothing that can be done about it. So might as well enjoy shooting bad guys and all the travel.

[Sorry, pal, but Firo's not paying too much attention after immortality comes up. He hasn't met any other immortals here until now, and he doesn't know if all immortals would be the same type as him--which would mean the type that can kill him. He's not too worried, since he doesn't know much about this guy either way, but he'd be remiss not to be wary.

Then again, would it matter when their powers are dampened again? Firo doesn't really want to find out.

...Immortality, huh? Say, how'd you come by this stuff, again? It found you?

[What does that mean? Firo supposes he could say that he elixir "found" him, even though he's the one who stole it off the old guy in the alley.]

[It's hard not to pick up on the cherrypicking, and for a moment Cayde falls quiet as he tries to discern what might actually be being asked of him. Ultimately he comes up with nothing, he doesn't know Firo well enough to judge, but perhaps it would behoove him to be a little less forthcoming.]

Okay, conditional immortality; undying, not invincible. [He's a bit wary on giving that up now, but proceeds regardless.] And I told you before. I was dead, and then I wasn't. Wasn't really my choice, all things considered.

Hey, I'm just curious. You can't blame a guy for wondering about a story like that.

[Firo would be calling bullshit if a similar thing hadn't happened to him; he never expected to wake up again after Dallas's posse cornered him, Ennis, and the Gandors with tommy guns... but wake up they did.]

Okay, I do have to give you that point. [There have been a number of things that he's found fantastical since arriving here, it would only be fair that someone else found his mundane life strange. It's still slightly suspicious, however, but there's no further prodding and so he lets things go for the time.]

I'm guessing things are a little different 'round your parts?

Yeah. Immortality's not exactly normal there...

[Which is true, but also only the beginning of the story. Does he share or doesn't he? Might as well get it all out in the open now and see what happens.]

Y'know what? Sure. That's just as crazy as my story, so why not. Hope it was at least a good vintage, I feel like immortality wine should be a good vintage.

Heh. I'll be honest, been a while since I've been called that. But the sentiment is all the same, so right back at you. Kinda good to hear that things are...well okay so they're not the same throughout this big messed up multiverse, but at least they're kind of alike? Maybe? Sort of? If you squint.
