[ there is a sudden sparking that emits from your magical watches and a hologram appears, showing a petit woman with dark hair. her eyes seem to hold a certain amount of mischief and light, and when she speaks, you listen. it's something about her; you are captivated by her presence, and you can't help but give her your attention. ]

Hello, hello, hello~! ♥

[ it's a trill of a voice, light and airy. ]

I know you've all just arrived~♥ but I wanted to introduce myself! To those who haven't met me, my name is Astoria! I know many of you are likely unhappy with being found here, and I understand. But the need is urgent, and dire, and I am in desperate need of your help, as is the universe in which we reside. There is much darkness, in this universe . . . plenty of worlds on the brink of collapse, or at the precipice of something great. It is my job -- our job -- to help where needed. Like superheroes, but a little less flashy!

[ she pauses. ]

No offense to the superheroes. -- but anyway! I want to let you know were we're going to go first.

[ she takes in a D E E P breath!! ]

There is a city, by the name of El Minha. It's beautiful, an oasis in the desert. There are many shops and stalls and the entire city is bustling, but El Minha is facing a difficult path. Transitions of power are hard, you know? And they have a new King, who is . . . probably nice, but the people there are suffering. Crime is at an all-time high, and King Kathashun can only do so much . . . if he's doing anything at all.

[ she brushes a loose piece of hair behind her ear, and astoria smiles a little. it is obvious, by now, that she's definitely bubbly and full of spirit, but she is deadly serious about her mission. ]

I truly believe that we have the ability to help those who need it most, and those people are in desperate need. So we're going to go there, explore, and talk to them! And maybe, just maybe, we can affect some good in this world, and change the tide for the better for these poor people.

[ she pauses. ]

So that's where we're going first! But before that, I'm here to greet you, to support you, and welcome you to my beautiful Temple. Please, please, please make yourselves at home! I'll be here if you have any questions. ♥

[ astoria pauses before lifting up a single finger, as if she's forgotten something important. ]

Oh, and please let me know if you find anything interesting or important or otherwise peculiar in the Temple! The Forest of the Fey is a magical place, and I'm keeping a careful eye on all of you explorers to make sure you don't get too lost, but my dear friends within the forest may like playing with you all, so be respectful of the wildlife! It may fight back. ♥

[ is she serious? the world may never know. ]

Just whenever you can manage it is enough for me. Don't worry about it too much; I'm guessing it would be bad for all of us if you over-exerted yourself.

[he can't help but raise an eyebrow at her last sentence; if they were the kind of people who didn't want to help, why would she have brought them?]

The only way you'll know if something can be fixed or not is if you actually try to fix it, you know? So it can't hurt to let us try.

A -- Shepherd? would know, is that right?

[ a little uncertainly; she knows something about all the worlds she pulled you all from, but some of it is hard to place. it's a giant mush in her head. ]

You must know a lot about what I'm attempting to do. Your world is truly in chaos?

[imsorey]

[nodding at her use of the correct title, and...ducking his head a bit. it's equal parts pleasing and embarrassing that she knows he's a Shepherd.]

Right. Well--nothing should be in chaos on my world anymore, if things went right. I don't know how long I was down past the earthpulse for so it's kind of a blur. If...the world is able to heal, then that's enough. And if you're looking to prevent things from getting as bad as they were on my world, then I can't blame you for asking for help.

[he steals a glance at her on the little screen, curiosity written all over his face.]

I've never heard any legends about Shepherds going to other worlds in order to help purify them. Or witches, for that matter. Is all of this really a part of your duty? It seems like a lot for one person to handle.

[acatastoria]

It is! But I'm also not human.

[ she's . . . something, she's not quite sure what. the word goddess was thrown around once or twice. but she prefers the term witch. ]

You have a purpose to play in the universe and you have to do it, you know? I just have to do my best with what I have.

[imsorey]

[he gives a reluctant nod; it doesn't feel like enough to justify what she's done, but he does understand where she's coming from.]

I get it. Sometimes...that's just how it is. But doing your best involves all of us now. Even if it was out of desperation, you brought us here without asking. So it'd help us all out a lot if you told us everything you do know, so that we know exactly what we're getting into and how we can help. If you have the power to bring us here, what else can you do? If you're not human, does that make you a seraph, or something else?

I'm not really sure what a seraph is, but I call myself a witch. I might be more than that, but I'm not really sure.

[ she shrugs a little. ]

I consider myself Balance. Creation, Destruction, Equality. Magic. I'm all of those things, and none of those things. It's hard to explain, Sorey. But I'm definitely not human.

[imsorey]

[a wry smile twitches on his lips at her explanation; it could use some work. but it doesn't sound like she's a seraph and she knows she's not a human, so he can at least cross those off of his list.]

You might want to work on your self-introductions a bit. That doesn't really clarify anything. But—it's nice to meet you anyways. Is there anything that you can tell me about yourself that isn't hard to explain?

[ there's a slight wrinkling of her nose, at the critique. ]

You asked what I am, and I answered. I don't know how else to describe myself -- I usually don't have to, and I've never needed to before now. My name is Astoria, and I was created here. This is my home. I use magic, and I create, and I destroy, to keep balance in the world. Too much darkness is taking over as of late, because I can't leave this place to do my job. That's about it.
