the text keeps appearing and reappearing. like someone's deleting their post? repeatedly. eventually one sticks, though: ]

[A2 says, after a pause, brow furrowed. She looks from both the rat to the...thing that is talking on her watch in turn.]
Are you one of these rats too? Is that why you can summon them?

[ this is going GREAT and probably not going to get her or ...tiny timothy? is that what she just randomly named that one. whatever. the point mae's internal monologue is making is this is probably not great to be doing, but it's hard to... stop... ]

[She squeezes the actual rat in her hands again.] Keep it up, and I'll crack this little bastard in half! You better hurry up!

[ whatever. it's fine? it's fine. it's fine. she's going to employ some help. some deft help. some very employable help that perhaps would have been useful in the kitchen but in this case, it's talents are great for this particular situation in mae's weird little kitty brain. there's a squeak, not unlike something the one in a2's hand right now would make. it's distant. another. it's distant still. another. it's closer, but not so close that it's alarming, probably.
squeak. squeak. squeak.
what probably is a little more cause for attention is the sound of... a wave, perhaps, something careening towards a2's position. it's gaining speed and size?? if that is even a thing you can tell about a sound. maybe it's just getting bigger.
this is a lot of flavor text to say there's a horde of rats running towards a2 like a stampede of much larger and probably much more intimidating animals. like, i'm sure there's some kind of horror to be associated with rats running at you in a stampede but it's also just hilarious.
equally hilarious is the bizarre sound of someone not quite human?? climbing up up and up. little "hup!"s and "ho!"s, and then there's just still that sound of a lot of paws on the ground.
there's another set paws in the mix, but at least she can see that's definitely mae. she lands just before them, jumping from some... vantage point... she did it to be cool. maybe. ]
