Hey. So my name is Dr. Nathaniel Heywood, but most people just call me Nate. I'm a historian, not a medical doctor, so if that's something you need, I probably can't help you much there. But if you ever want some good trivia about different period's in Earth's history, I'm your man.

Anyway. That's not this is about. I have a question. So it seems like our powers from home don't work here, and we have cool new powers instead which you know, is cool and all, but say if some of your abilities back home had neutralized a disease you had struggled with most of your life back home -- would you find yourself suffering from it again here?

Just, you know, asking for a hemophiliac friend of mine.

One of the powers was accelerated healing, which basically neutralized my condition.

I've been here several months, and I'm like 99% sure we weren't brought here to die. [ Unless things went terribly south on other worlds or whatever. ] But tell your friend that I'll start a fucking war if I find out the opposite is true. Your friend should be fine, but tell them to go to one of our healers or medical doctors here. I'd offer my assistance, but my powers here don't ... help. If I had my powers from home, I could and would.

That's probably a good place to start -- talking to a healer or doctor here. If we just had our powers from home this wouldn't be a problem to begin with. But at least it sounds like Astoria isn't.....trying to actively kill us or anything.

Oh, yeah. I'm sure a lot of us would be more comfortable with our original abilities, since we're used to them, or they help, et cetera. As far as bars go, 'not actively tying to kill us' might be kind of a low one, but it's worked out so far. [ ha. ha. ]

You do weird shit like this often? Travelling through time and space and power mishaps.

I've studied a little bit of everything -- though there are definitely periods of time I have a soft spot for.

But like, what time period are you from? That's always a relevant question that nobody asks.

Since I'm from 2059, it's all ancient history to me.

Hi Nate, I'm Hunk. I can't really answer the question about prior diseases...other than maybe to ask if your friend has been feeling ill or like they might be again...like familiar symptoms or something.

But I am one of the designated healers if your friend needs assistance. I'm in the kitchen most of the time while we're here.

It's not a disease that works like that -- they wouldn't know anything was wrong until they got hurt --

But it's good to know there's so many healers around.

Ah. That makes sense. Unfortunately despite being a healer I know more about technology and fixing machines than I do about fixing people. Of course, since healing just means touching someone and not actually the skills you'd need as a medical doctor, I guess that's okay.

What is the nature of your condition? My apologies, I haven't heard that term before.

So people keep telling me -- healers aren't something I have a lot of experience with but I'm glad to hear they have them here.

[a beat, and then in a more serious voice:]

It's a disease that keeps my blood from clotting properly -- which means even minor cuts or injuries can become really dangerous because it's hard to stop the bleeding.

I see. I can see how that would be problematic.

[ Nikolai makes a mental note. If they're ever in trouble, this man will need protection. Armour of some kind would be preferable.

Well, in the absence of a magical saviour for your problem, perhaps a practical one would suffice? You could investigate some kind of protection, make breaking the skin less likely.

I would hope so -- considering the sort of adventures Astoria apparently sends people on I would imagine doctors would be important to have around.
